Microsoft delays launch of Vista

I just came across this news on BBC.
BBC NEWS | Business | Microsoft delays launch of Vista: "Microsoft plans to delay the consumer launch of its much-anticipated Windows Vista operating system to January 2007. "

I am not sure if the all the Vista launch will be effected by this. Which I hope it shouldnt because Vista is supposed to made available for the corporate customers in November, 2006. The product I am working on these days is supposed to have a Vista UI so we are also eyeing November time frame.

Event @ American University Dubai

Last Saturday I was invited to speak @ American University Duabai. It was a fine experience presenting ASMX Web Services to the audience who are supposedly apt in J2EE. I got to meet Dr Khuwaja who had a couple of interesting questions to ask at the end of the presentation. I have been told that I might get invited again to do such session in near future.

Hackers get Mac running Windows

Check it out on BBC!

"Hackers have managed to get Microsoft's Windows XP operating system running on an Apple Mac computer. "

3+4*5 = ?

I was just browsing through Imagine Cup forums and i came across this interesting post.

3+4*5 = ?

Your elementary BODMAS rule should make you think that answer must be 23. But not with Windows Calculator. Try this equation on windows calculator first in standard view and then scientific view. Strange!

10 Community [after Channel 9 of MSDN]

I came across 10 Community while browsing Ali Raza Shaikh's Blog.

10 is a sister of Channel 9 of msdn and I am sure 10 is a site worth visiting.

About 10: "10 is a place for people who want to use technology to change the world.
Every weekday at 10:00 am (PST) well update this site with a new video that highlights people, their passions and often the technology they are using. At the end of each week we compile these videos into a full length show with some extra surprises for you.
In addition to the show, we're launching a number of blogs for the enthusiast covering a wide range of topics. Our blogs will be written by Microsoft employees, members of the 10 community or a mixture of both.
Welcome to the beginning of 10, the next step starts with you! "

MSF Agile!

I am working for a start up company these days and a part of my job requires me to (help/guide) Project Manager set up Development Methodology and related things in coordination with Development Manager.

Sometimes (rather usually :)) setting up processes is a difficult thing, its like coming up with one size fits all solution for different scenarios. So when you talk about Development Methodology specially when you are doing development on Microsoft platform, MSF becomes almost natural choice for you.

Microsoft is rolling out MSF Agile with it Visual Studio Team System. MSF Agile beta process guide lines are already made available on msdn. MSF Agile is an important initiative from Microsoft and any one who believes in Agile methodologies should take a look at MSF Agile and the way it is supposed to be integrated with Visual Studio Team System.

I havent got the chance to experience the full cycle as yet since the Team Foundation Server is not supported on 64 Bit platform (This is really strange since Microsoft is promoting x64 a lot and its main Team Foundation Server).

Microsoft on the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)

I have been scratching my head alot these days over design and architecture for an Enterprise Service Bus. Sometimes I tend to drift towards "Just A Message Bus", other times I think about "Message Queues" and then there is a whole world rushing towards ESB. I believe I am going to write small and precise comparison and contrasts on which one to go for.
But for now I will suggest you to have look at this following article that I came across @ MSDN.
Microsoft on the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)

Surprisingly, Microsoft hasnt published a lot of text on Message Buses and Enterprise Service Bus, their flagship product is BizTalk when it comes to integration and broker scenarios. However I came across a lot of good articles and Red-Books published by IBM that targets and focuses on ESBs and SOA etc.
